About Us

We are the Sister Cities Association of Virginia Beach

Our Mission: Foster international understanding, friendship, cooperation, and meaningful relationships while promoting peace through mutual understanding, one individual and community at a time.

The City of Virginia Beach acknowledges the importance of Sister City relationships for the purpose of international understanding, friendships, cultural as well as economic and tourist development activities.

The Virginia Beach Sister Cities program began as the Mayor’s Sister Cities Commission, with Commissioners being appointed by City Council. To further enhance the Mission and growth, in May 2010, the Sister Cities Association of Virginia Beach, a designated 501(c)(3) organization, was born. Each Sister City has its own unique Committee and Chair that is a part of the whole. The Board of Directors and Ex Officio Members are made up of people from all walks of life whose passion fits our mission.
